Upcoming Events
20th Anniversary
Celebration
Monday, October 2, 2012, 6 p.m. at the Centro Caboto Centre, 1055
Wilkes Ave.
Our FMS Support Group has been reaching out to the
community with information, education, support and research since 1992. The
board invites past and current members, families, friends, speakers, the
medical community and the general public to join in an evening of
celebration.
Dinner invitations and RSVP replies will be mailed
out in the spring. Ticket price to be determined and will include a full course
sit-down dinner. If you know of any past members, speakers, other health
professionals, etc. please forward the information to our office at SMD
Clearinghouse or to info@fmswinnipeg.com by February 29, 2012.
The guest speaker is Dr. Kevin
White, MD, PhD, who works with Fibro clients and does presentations in
Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. He also has short videos on You Tube.
His book, “Breaking Thru the Fibro Fog: Scientific
Proof that Fibromyalgia is Real”, is on
hand in our library and will be available for
purchase at the dinner. The title of
his presentation is still to be determined.
To offset costs, the evening
will end with a Silent Auction. Donations of new items are
needed and can be dropped off at meetings or at
the office. Limited pickup is available
for larger items.
Also, a spring fundraiser is planned. Grey
T-shirts with our mauve fibro logo will be
selling for $15.00. Order forms will be in the
next newsletter and starting April at
the monthly Monday meetings.

Fibromyalgia Resource
Booklet
In May, 2008, the Fibromyalgia Support Group of Winnipeg, Inc. sent a copy
of the booklet "Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Clinical Case Definition
for Practitioners: An Overview" to all Family Physicians in
Manitoba. This booklet provides a concise summary of diagnostic criteria
and recommended treatment options for use by health care professionals to
treat patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). It also provides a number
of helpful suggestions and health tracking worksheets for both physicians
and patients to utilize. This Overview is a follow-up to the Canadian
Consensus Document on the Fibromyalgia Syndrome which was written by an
International Expert Consensus Panel selected by Health Canada.
Copies of the document are available for purchase at our regular monthly
meetings for a cost of $4.00. Electronic copies of the FMS Consensus
Document and the Overview of this document can be obtained online at: www.mefmaction.net/PhysiciansResearchers/Guides/tabid/531/Default.aspx
