Physician Mail Out
The Fibromyalgia Support Group of Winnipeg, Inc. celebrated its 15th Anniversary in 2007 and initiated a project to send a copy of the booklet “Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Clinical Case Definition for Practitioners: An Overview” to all Family Physicians in Manitoba. This booklet provides a concise summary of diagnostic criteria and recommended treatment options for use by health care professionals to treat patients with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS). It also provides a number of helpful suggestions and health tracking worksheets for both physicians and patients to utilize. This Overview is a follow-up to the Canadian Consensus Document on the Fibromyalgia Syndrome which was written by an International Expert Consensus Panel selected by Health Canada.
After planning and fundraising, we completed the mail out in May, 2008. Packages were sent to over 930 doctors. Please ask your Family Physician if he or she has received a copy of the Fibromyalgia Overview and let us know:
1) If your physician has not received a copy and would like one sent to them (physician’s name and address required);
2) If your physician has received a copy, was the information helpful?; and
3) If this information made a difference in the treatment you receive.

Tai Chi for Active Living
The Fibromyalgia Support Group is sponsoring Tai Chi classes at the Society of Manitobans With Disabilities, 825 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg.

Fall Fundraiser
The FM Support Group of Winnipeg Inc. will be selling “Show and Save Books” this Fall. The books will be available at our September 8, 2008 meeting. The books cost $15 and provide coupons for discounts for a variety of services, restaurants and activities. This is one of our main fundraisers for the year. Please pre-order your books by calling Karen at 632-8045. We appreciate your support.
Meeting Schedule
We invite you to come down and join us at our monthly meetings which are held at 7:00 p.m. on the 1st Monday of every month (except January, July and August) at 825 Sherbrook St., 2nd floor. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Family and friends are welcome! There is a $3.00 drop-in fee for non-members.
